“We moved my 83 year old mother to Quail Garden in January 2015. After looking at 10 assisted living places in the area (many visits at different times), we decided Quail would suit her needs better than the larger places we visited.
The environment at Quail Garden is smaller and more intimate, giving her a sense of a home away from home. And, she has adjusted remarkably well. She was living at home with a caregiver but didn’t have interaction with anyone since there was no family living in her town. She now has a lovely roommate and it seems as though they are each trying to help each other. And, there is conversation around meals, activities, and entertainment throughout the week. The place is not so big as to be overwhelming and yet provides just the right amount of activity to keep her a little on her toes.
My sister and I feel so blessed to have found this place and mom is thriving.”

Bob Londagin and daughter, Alicia Johnston, Quail Garden’s administrator
Family Owned and Operated since 1998
Originally Livermore’s historic St. Paul’s Hospital, the site had served as a skilled nursing facility for Valley Memorial, and later as an Assisted Living Facility when Bob Londagin and his late wife Diane purchased it in 1998. “We changed the name to Quail Garden because Diane’s father had died several years prior, and going to the cemetery we had to stop for a family of quail crossing the road,” he said. “We took this as a sign that family is everything important.”
The Londagin’s daughter, Alicia Johnston, who’d earned a degree in Nutritional Science in 1999, returned home to help as her mother battled cancer. As Diane’s cancer progressed, Johnston started running the business and has continued since then. Quail Garden is still operated by the Londagin family. Alicia Johnston is Quail Garden’s administrator.
In Loving Memory of Diane, without whose guidance and inspiration, Quail Garden would not be what it is today.
